Zalando contemplates two sales methods whose respective programs are called Wholesale and Partner Program. Selling with the Wholesale program means selling products in bulk to Zalando, which will distribute them through its channels.

Payments and logistics

The payments that the consumer makes on the platform are withheld by the marketplace, which reports them to the Partner at the beginning of each month following the relevant month, by sending a regular invoice

The reports sent, divided by individual country, include:

  • sales
  • returns
  • compensation

The invoice sent at the beginning of each month is paid by the end of the same month by bank transfer..

With regard to logistics, on the other hand, the Partner can equip itself independently or use the ZFS (Zalando Fulfillment Solution) method which contemplates the use of Zalando's services. The goods, in this case, are stored in Germany and the taxation will be managed accordingly.

How much does it cost to sell on Zalando

Sales commissions are calculated according to a progressive and different mechanism by product category. According to the value of the transaction and the product category, therefore, the commission that Zalando retains changes, fluctuating between 5 and 25%.

For example, within the Shoes category, the commissions are as follows:

  • 5% if the transaction is up to 20 euro
  • 10% if the transaction is up to 50 euro
  • 20% if the transaction is up to 100 euro
  • 25% if the transaction exceeds 100 euro
